Didn’t get a whole lot done last night. Well maybe kinda. Finished painting my shoes, got the lowest ruffle sewn on. Got the sequins sewn onto the straps and got the first line of sequins sewn across the top of the bodice. Had to handsew those so it took a little longer – I have to do one more line of them tonight. Also finish hand-sewing the top ruffle, and sew the straps in place finally. So I guess it was a decent amount — but not much to take photos of.
Then I just need to figure out the applique shapes and maybe get a pattern/base cut. I’m waiting on my sequin fabric for those to get here. They shipped yesterday, hopefully I’ll have it by this weekend?
And I need to make a decision on my TFA Leia underdress. I think I may take what I got at Joanns back and buy the silk I got the fabric sample of.
But mostly I’m here to rattle on about Dragon Con.
Am I excited for Dragon Con?
So as I’ve mentioned, Chase isn’t going. He’s either just going to stay home and do stuff around the house or do a little mini-scooter trip. It’s going to be a girls weekend!
I haven’t been to a con without Chase since… we started dating. So the last con I went to without him was Dragon Con 2005. Whoa. So that’s a little weird. But I’m looking forward to just hanging out with Ash and Cath – it’s DragonCon 2003 REDUX!
We were originally only going to do Fri-Sun. But we just changed our minds and now we’ll be there Fri-Mon. I mean we have the room, we have the day off, why not.
I’m trying to keep costumes to 10. And about half of those will be comfy/simple/not much to pack costumes. Actually outside of the giant Pink Thing I’m hoping I can fit everything in one garment bag and one medium sized bin. Fingers crossed.

I’m trying to keep obligations low. So far I’m signed up for the parade with the Doctor Who unit, and then a Star Wars group shoot later on Saturday. Would like to do the Ladies of the Legions photo on Sunday if it doesn’t interfere with any photo-ops we do.
So my to-do list for this week/weekend:
Pink Thing:
-Sew on upper ruffle
-Sew on second row of sequins
-Sew on straps
-Iron everything
-Pattern out applique pieces, cut backing?
TFA Leia:
-Return fabric to Joanns
-Buy new fabric
-Getting lining (old fabric) put together
-Hem outer dress
Mon Mothma:
-Add metallic thread to braids
-Work on shoulder pieces
Bespin Leia:
-Remove trim on tunic
-Take tunic apart – shorten/take it up
-Sew trim back on
-Repleat front of cape
Dolores:
-Brush out the wig, recurl, repin
